9-3-19 - Elementary Schools Collect Bandages for Hope and Laughter

Sept. 3, 2019 ~ As September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, all elementary schools in the Olathe Public Schools are working to spread smiles and hope to children battling cancer. In partnership with Noah’s Bandage Project, students will hold a bandage drive from Sept. 9 through Sept. 13. A fun, colorful or character bandage can bring a smile or laughter to a child with illness.

Noah’s Bandage Project is in honor of Noah Wilson who passed away in 2015 after a battle with Ewing Sarcoma. Noah was an Olathe student and collected bandages to give his friends at the hospital. To date, this project has distributed more than 250,000 boxes of bandages around the world.

For the past five years, elementary students in the Olathe School District have collected more than 24,000 boxes of bandages and raised over $9,000.

Community patrons who do not have students in an Olathe elementary school can still participate. Any community member interested can donate a box of bandages to the Olathe Public Schools Education Center located at 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.
