9-3-19 — Board to Honor Dozens of Dedicated Volunteers
Sept. 3, 2019 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.
One of the first acts of business is honoring dozens of participants in the Volunteers Serving Schools program who earned Presidential Service Awards last school year. Other recognitions are a perfect ACT score, National History Day participants, and Kansas and international thespian officer.
Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services Brent Yeager and ELL/World Language Coordinator Michael Flenthrope will present information on a Spanish language immersion program being developed for possible use in the district.
The board’s agenda includes a consent agenda of routine items as well as student trips and curriculum. The board will act on more than a dozen bids, contracts and agreements including selling some land, renewing various software agreements, purchasing music instruments and uniforms, leasing some vehicles, and purchasing electrical and plumbing supplies for maintenance and repair.
Board members will receive information on a half dozen future action items including student trips, a government relations contract, proposals for employee benefit consulting services, and bids for rock salt.
An executive session is planned for the board to consult with its attorney.
