1-24-24 — Olathe Students Featured in Overland Park Art Exhibit

Jan. 24, 2024 ~ The Future of Art exhibit at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center supports and highlights local high school student artists. Sponsored by The Friends of Overland Park Arts, the exhibit features drawings, paintings, photographs, pottery, sculpture and digital arts from amazing talents of the next generation. Art professionals from the Rice Gallery of Fine Art judged student artwork submitted for this exhibit and awarded three prize winners by district. The following winners from Olathe Public Schools were awarded for their art pieces: 

  • First: “Untitled Owl” by Cassidy Rink, Olathe West High School
  • Second: “The Light Within” by Mia Sorell, Olathe East High School
  • Third: “Untitled Guitar Photo” by Toria Yanez, Olathe West High School

A gallery with the student artwork was put on display for the public from Christmas Eve through Jan. 5 at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center.

“Thank you for sharing the art of your students with the city of Overland Park. The Future of Art is our most popular exhibition,” City of Overland Park Recreation Supervisor Julie Bilyea said. “We are grateful for your schools for sharing the talents of your students!”
