7-11-22 — July 2022 Board Meeting Preview

July 11, 2022 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Board of Education will hold its first regular meeting of the new fiscal year on July 14. The board will gather in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. The doors open at 4:30 p.m. for anyone wishing to participate in the special public comment meeting that begins at 5 p.m. Anyone wishing to address the board should contact Clerk of the Board Barb Behm by emailing bbehmec@olatheschools.org by noon Thursday, July 14. The meeting will begin with the election of a board president and vice president, as well as appointments for clerk, deputy clerk, treasurer and school district attorney. This will be followed by adoption of the July 14 meeting agenda.

The board will recognize School Resource Officer Andy Falcon for his years of experience with the district.

The only presentation for the evening is a report from the Operations Service Center about summer projects underway for the new school year.

The board will act on a consent agenda of routine items as well as bids, contracts and agreements, and set their regular meeting dates and times for the 2022-23 school year. Board members will appoint representatives to the Head Start Policy Council and Olathe Public Schools Foundation Board. The final action item involves a resolution to adopt a tax rate above the revenue neutral tax rate.

Board members will receive information on a handful of future action items, and one written report.

A single executive session is planned, to discuss employer-employee negotiations.
