9-23-21 — Four Alums, Former District Administrator Join Wall of Honor

Sept. 23, 2021 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association will recognize four exceptional alumni and one Distinguished Person of Honor during its Wall of Honor banquet on Wednesday, Oct. 6.
alumni association logoThis year's honorees are: 

  • Ralph Bray Jr., a 1961 graduate of Olathe High School, who served in the Army both as an Honor Guard in the White House during the Kennedy presidency and as a captain in the Vietnam War.
  • Kiel Johnson, a 1993 graduate of Olathe South High School, who has shown his creative art projects in galleries and museums across the United States.
  • Ray Motes, a 1960 graduate of Olathe High School, who set multiple track records as a professional race car driver in the National Hot Rod Association.
  • Brandi (Wright) Leggett, a 1998 graduate of Olathe North High School, who is an Olathe elementary school principal experienced in implementing new programs to improve student performance.

Former Olathe Public Schools deputy superintendent Alison Banikowski is this year's Distinguished Person of Honor. Started in 2012, the Distinguished Person of Honor Award recognizes individuals who did not graduate from the district but provided exceptional support to the Olathe district for many years.
