1-29-21 — 2021 Spelling Bee Preview

Jan. 29, 2021 ~ More than 45 exceptional spellers will compete Thursday, Feb. 11, in the Olathe Public Schools Spelling Bee. The doors open at 7:45 a.m. with the competition beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the Frontier Trail Middle School auditorium, 15300 W. 143rd St., Olathe.

The bee will be introduced by Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education Tim Reves and words will be pronounced by speech-language pathologist Gayle Bergstrand. Judges include three retired principals and educators. Awards will be presented by Executive Director for Elementary Education Jill Smith.

Due to capacity restrictions and COVID-19 mitigation, only one parent/guardian may attend with a spelling bee participant. Masks must be worn at all times.

The winner of this bee will be eligible to compete in the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee, June 1-3, in National Harbor, Maryland. The Olathe Public Schools and the Olathe Public Schools Foundation sponsor the Olathe Spelling Bee.
