Oct. 3, 2023 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 5:45 p.m. Oct. 5 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. The doors open at 5:15 p.m. Anyone wishing to address the board should contact Clerk of the Board Barb Behm before noon on Thursday, Oct. 5. See our Rules for Public Comment webpage for details.

Approval of this month’s meeting agenda will be followed by two presentations. The first presentation will be this month’s school spotlight, presented by Pioneer Trail Middle School Principal Scott Appell. Afterward, Executive Director of Special Services, Anjanette Tolman, and additional staff will provide the board with an update related to special education. The presentation will include information on steps taken since the special services study, as well as information on various programs for student support.

The board will act on a consent agenda of routine items as well as bids, contracts and agreements; approval of financial reports and accounts payable; summer 2024 construction proposals; and 2023 Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) Delegate Assembly Appointments.

Board members will receive information on 13 future action items and two written reports.

An executive session is planned for the board to consult with its attorney.
