July 23, 2019 ~ The Olathe Board of Education, in a special meeting on July 22, appointed Kristin Schultz to fill an open position on the board. Schultz is filling an open position vacated by Amy Martin, who moved from the area. Schultz will be sworn into the position at the Aug. 1 Board of Education meeting and will serve until the term ends in 2021.
Schultz works as a resource development consultant to public media in Kansas and greater Kansas City. She has held various community service and leadership roles in the community, including past tenure on the Olathe Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors, and Vice President of Leadership for Women's Philanthropy at the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City, among other roles. Schultz is a longtime member of the community and is the parent of two Olathe Public Schools graduates.
"Public education has played a significant role in my life,” Schultz said. “From my experiences as a student to those of a parent, its impact on our kids and community has been important to me. More than 30,000 students and 4,500 staff members spend their days in our Olathe schools; making their experience the best possible is at the heart of district leadership. I'm thrilled to join the impressive group of community members on the Olathe Board of Education."
