Sept. 5, 2023 ~ Prior to its regular meeting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, the Olathe Board of Education will hold two public hearings: revenue neutral rate beginning at 5:15 p.m. and fiscal year 2024 budget starting at 5:30 p.m.

All meetings will take place in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. Anyone wishing to address the board during the regular meeting should contact Clerk of the Board Barb Behm before noon Thursday, Sept. 7. See our Rules for Public Comment webpage for details.

Prairie Center Elementary School students will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of this month’s regular meeting agenda.

Several athletic and academic achievements will be recognized by the board, along with Presidential Service Award winners from the Volunteers Serving Schools program.
This month’s school spotlight will be presented by Prairie Center Elementary Principal Sean Bohon. Director of School Improvement, Assessment and Curriculum Dr. Julie Veatch will share a brief overview of data pertaining to last school year including areas of growth and needed focus.

The board will act on a consent agenda of routine items as well as bids, contracts and agreements; Board of Education committee and school site council assignments; resolution to adopt the local option budget percentage; and the 2023-24 budget.

Board members will receive information on nearly a dozen future action items and two written reports.

An executive session is planned for the board to consult with its attorney.
