May 18, 2023 ~ On May 10, Santa Fe Trail Middle School held a student event with the construction partners of the new Santa Fe Trail campus. Construction is well underway and is scheduled to be completed in April of 2024.

Employees of Newkirk-Novack Construction Partners, Hollis + Miller Architects, Henderson Engineers and Olsson civil engineering firm were in attendance with stations for students to come and learn more about what they do. There was also a time capsule station, where students could take photos or write notes to put into the capsule.

Newkirk-Novack Construction Partners are the construction managers of the site. They develop the project estimates, manage the construction budget and coordinate with the engineers and subcontractors over what needs to be done. Hollis + Miller Architects designed the building and provided the site master plan. Henderson Engineers oversees the mechanical, electrical and plumbing of the building, including heating and cooling, fire protection, utilities and lighting. Olsson provides the site infrastructure that includes water and wastewater engineering, traffic studies, roadway design and parking lot planning.

The students had a blast learning about what each company provided for their new building, and members of the Santa Fe Trail community look forward to the project’s completion.

While substantial completion is scheduled for April of 2024, the demolition of the existing building will start during the 2024 summer break. Once that is done, they will begin installation of their new track and football field, which will be placed where the current building stands.
