1-14-20 — Family Organizes Heart Screenings for Youths
Jan. 14, 2020 ~ Keeping students safe and healthy is a top priority for the Olathe School District. The district is partnering with Athletic Testing Solutions to offer comprehensive heart screenings for students from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 in the Instructional Resource Center, 14090 S. Black Bob, Olathe. The cost is $129 per child.
The family of Brennan Connell, an Olathe student athlete who suffered cardiac arrest on the baseball field, is organizing these two events. Brennan is doing great today thanks to the quick action taken by a handful of bystanders.
The ATS HeartCheck includes an EKG and echocardiogram (heart ultrasound).
Pediatric specialists conduct the 30-minute tests.
Parents will receive a comprehensive report like the ones hospitals provide.
Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) accounts are accepted.
There are a limited number of appointments available for children age 8 to 25. Pre-registration is required.
