9-12-19 — Civic Leadership Academy to Host Gala for KVC
Sept. 12, 2019 ~ Eight seniors in the Civic Leadership Academy, located at Olathe East High School, are hoping to leave a perennial impact and legacy. In October, after months of careful planning and coordination, students will put on a gala to benefit KVC Health Systems with hopes of raising more than $10,000.
“At the First Annual Grand Benefit Gala, there will be live music, silent auction, testimonials and dinner,” said senior Chloe Bauer. “Seniors in the Public Administration strand of the Civic Leadership Academy identified various needs in the community and decided to support the work of KVC Health Systems in the area of foster care and behavioral, mental health.”
Bauer, along with the seven other seniors estimate they have put in roughly four to six hours daily to bring this project to fruition. Planning began in the second semester of the 2018-19 school year and continued during the summer.
The First Annual Grand Benefit Gala will be held from 6-9 p.m. Oct.12, at the Ball Conference Center, 21350 W. 153rd Street, in Olathe.
“Our goal is to bring attention to the good work of KVC and the children in their care,” said Bauer. “We’d like to prove that students can make an impactful change in society.”
KVC serves more than 12,000 children and families in Kansas each year and their mission is to enrich and enhance the lives of children and families by providing medical and behavioral healthcare, social services and education.
