4-1-19 — School Board to Hear About Skills Learned in Libraries

April 1, 2019 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. The single presentation that evening will focus on the skills students learn in school library media centers.

Library Media Coordinator Lori Franklin will explain how school libraries and librarians have changed to support and teach 21st century digital literacy skills, even as they help students and staff with various formats of materials in physical and virtual libraries.

The board will recognize a community partnership, perfect ACT score, and several outstanding athletes and other students.

The agenda includes a consent agenda of routine items; a handful of bids, contracts and agreements; and a few other action items. Board members will receive information on more than a dozen future action items including computer purchases, blinds for high school greenhouses, and various curriculum topics.

Board members will hold an executive session to discuss non-elected personnel.
