March 18, 2019 ~ The month of March provides an outstanding opportunity to celebrate a variety of areas of our district.

Theatre in our Schools Month

In an effort to raise awareness of the impact of theatre education, the Educational Theatre Association and the International Thespian Society have partnered with the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) to sponsor Theatre in Our Schools month. Theatre is a vibrant part of the educational opportunities offered to students in the Olathe Public Schools. Numerous productions are put on each year at the district middle and high schools. Music in our Schools Month

Beautiful music can be heard in district schools every day, but March is the official month of recognition for Music in our Schools. This yearly occurrence is sponsored by the National Association for Music Education. From general music to orchestra, band and choir, district students are exposed to music and offered opportunities to learn and grow within this important field.

Middle Level Education Month

The district has 10 outstanding middle schools filled with high quality educators and amazing students. Celebrating our middle level students, staff and schools is easy to do. Our middle school students achieve great things and it is exciting to recognize them in March.

National Nutrition Month

Providing nutritious, appealing and affordable meals to students so they are prepared to learn is a priority for the district’s Food Services Division. Celebrating the hard work of our school food service staff as they work to feed our students and staff every day is a focus of March’s National Nutrition Month.

Social Work Month

National Professional Social Work Month is an opportunity to highlight the important contributions social workers make to society. District social workers make an extraordinary impact on the students they serve and the schools in which they work. We are grateful to recognize our social workers each year in March.

Youth Art Month

It’s hard to take more than a step into a school building before you see the amazing artwork our students create. Our students learn and grow with art, from our youngest learners through high school. March allows us to celebrate Youth Art Month, and take a moment to admire the amazing artistic abilities of our students and staff.
