3-4-19 — School Board to Recognize Two Community Partners

March 4, 2019 ~ During their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, March 7, members of the Olathe Board of Education will publicly thank two community partners for their work with the school district. Recognitions take place at the beginning of the meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.

The Olathe Police Department and Olathe Public Library will be recognized, along with several teachers, counselors and other staff members who have achieved major accomplishments recently.

A single presentation is planned for the meeting. Director of Health Services Sharon Morris will talk about adding Naloxone to secondary school nurse offices as part of a statewide protocol to fight opioid overdose. Kansas House Bill 2217, signed in 2016, makes opioid antagonist preparations more widely available in many ways, including school nurse offices.

The agenda includes a consent agenda of routine items; nearly a dozen bids, contracts and agreements; and a handful of other action items ranging from the transportation fee schedule to board policy revisions. Board members will receive information on several future action items including student trips, budget development goals, student fees, and capital improvement projects.

Board members will hold an executive session near the beginning of the meeting to consult with the board’s attorney, and one at the end of the meeting to discuss non-elected personnel.
