6-7-23 — Alumni Association Prepares for 2023 Wall of Honor Banquet

June 7, 2023 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association will recognize three exceptional alumni and two Distinguished Persons of Honor during its Wall of Honor banquet on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

  • Nicholas Carnes, a 2002 graduate of Olathe South High School, whose interest in forensics in high school turned into a career as a professor of public policy and political science.
  • Sarah Hanson, a 1984 graduate of Olathe South High School, who taught in the Olathe Public Schools at the middle school level before helping to develop the Sports Medicine and Exercise Science Academy.
  • Kimberly (Quackenbush) Poecker, a 1997 graduate of Olathe North High School, whose career as a physician has focused on spinal cord injury, traumatic brain and neurological disorders.

Diane Gossage, a retired district employee in two schools and Community Development, and the late Corinthian Nutter, a longtime teacher and two-time principal in the district, are this year’s Distinguished Persons of Honor. The Distinguished Person of Honor Award began in 2012 to recognize individuals who did not graduate from the district but provided exceptional support to the Olathe district for many years. 

The dinner honoring these notable individuals will begin at 6 p.m. (socializing and seating at 5:30 p.m.). Tickets are $50 per person. Event and table sponsorships are also available. Call 913-780-8182 for tickets or sponsorship information.
