Feb. 13, 2025 ~ Congratulations to Adele Gibbens, eighth grader at Indian Trail Middle School, for winning the Olathe Spelling Bee! Over 45 students from all Olathe Public Schools elementary and middle schools competed, and the winning word was “malfeasance.” 

“We are so proud of Adele and all of our super spellers who participated in today’s Bee,” superintendent Dr. Brent Yeager said. “You all put so much hard work into this competition, and it shows. Adele, congratulations on this amazing accomplishment! We will be cheering you on at the National Spelling Bee all the way from Olathe!” 

Adele will compete in the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in the Washington, D.C. area May 25-31. The Olathe Public Schools and the Olathe Public Schools Foundation sponsor the Olathe Spelling Bee.
