Nov. 4, 2019 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. The meeting will begin with recognitions, followed by two presentations to the board.
The board will recognize an outstanding history teacher, assistant baseball coach, and local heroes who helped save a student’s life.
American Education Week, Nov. 18-22, is the focus of the first presentation. ONEA District Educator Representative Kathy Meyer will share details of the annual celebration by the National Education Association. The second presentation features representatives from the Human Resources Division who will provide an overview of the human capital goal of the district’s Strategic Plan.
The board’s agenda includes a consent agenda of routine items as well as student trips and the purchase of instructional materials for career and technical education pathways. The board will take action on more than a half-dozen bids, contracts and agreements including items related to construction projects and technology. Action items also include appointing a delegate to the Kansas Association of School Boards convention and setting a special meeting in November.
Board members will receive information on nearly two dozen future action items ranging from student trips and curriculum to proposals for student transportation services. They will also receive the Head Start director’s monthly report.
An executive session is planned so the board can discuss non-elected personnel.
