1-7-19 — Legislative Priorities on Board Agenda for January

Jan. 7, 2019 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will hold its first meeting of 2019 at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. A key action item for the board is to establish the district’s legislative platform for the upcoming legislative session.

Before the board members take up action items, they will recognize a community partner, outstanding educator, community service organizers, and young musicians. The recognition and awards portion of the meeting begins at 6 p.m.

A single presentation is planned for the January meeting: information about the ACT college entrance exam and the ACT WorkKeys career-ready exam.

Board members will vote on a handful of bids, contracts or agreements, followed by two other action items, including the district’s legislative priorities.

Several future action items will be shared with the board, including the end-of-year meeting date, technology issues, and track repairs.

Board members will hold an executive session to discuss confidential student information.
