May 30, 2023 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, June 1 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. Prior to the regular meeting, board members will gather at 5:30 p.m. for a special hearing for the purpose of republishing its 2022-23 budget.

The doors will open at 5:15 p.m. Anyone wishing to address the board should email Clerk of the Board Barb Behm by noon Thursday, June 1. See our Rules for Public Comment webpage for details. 

Approval of this month’s meeting agenda will be followed by a handful of honors for an entire school, two teachers, and two departments.

Two informational presentations are planned. Olathe East High School Principal Kerry Lane will give an update on the 3DE (diploma-plus) program implemented at her school last fall. Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations Becky Grubaugh will present an overview of the 2023 staff and parent survey results.

The board will vote on a consent agenda of routine items as well as more than a dozen bids, contracts and agreements. Board members will also receive about a dozen future action items and two written reports.

Two executive sessions are planned for the board to 1) discuss the potential acquisition of real property, and 2) discuss individual personnel performance.
