6-20-22 — Alumni Association Prepares for 2022 Wall of Honor Banquet

June 20, 2022 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association will recognize three exceptional alumni and one Distinguished Person of Honor during its Wall of Honor banquet on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
alumni association logoThis year's honorees are: 

  • Laurie (Kostel) Minard, a 1985 graduate of Olathe North High School, who helped develop Garmin International’s human resources team both locally and globally, and who serves on numerous community boards.
  • Stanley Roth, a 1953 graduate of John P. St. John Memorial High School, whose career as a high school and college science instructor earned him many awards.
  • Darren Sproles, a 2001 graduate of Olathe North High School, who played in the National Football League for 15 years.

Ruth Nelson, retired district employee and longtime volunteer in various community events, is this year's Distinguished Person of Honor. Started in 2012, the Distinguished Person of Honor Award recognizes individuals who did not graduate from the district but provided exceptional support to the Olathe district for many years.

The dinner honoring these notable individuals will begin at 6 p.m. (socializing and seating at 5:30 p.m.). Tickets are $50 per person. Event and table sponsorships are also available. Call 913-780-8182 for tickets or sponsorship information.

The Olathe Board of Education will recognize this year’s honorees during the board’s Oct. 6 meeting at the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.
