4-3-24 — Elementary Artists Shine with Latest Public Exhibit

April 3, 2024 ~ The public is invited to view a broad selection of 2D and 3D artwork by district elementary students. The exhibit, in the halls of the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob, Olathe, is accessible through May 2. Regular business hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays.

Art instructors submitted pieces by students in kindergarten through fifth grade, including paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works.

The public is invited to a reception to meet the artists and see two floors of artwork from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3.

Elementary students gain broad skills and learn about everything from creating space and texture, to the difference between warm and cool colors. They study famous artists such as Anna Blatman and Dale Chihuly and learn about art in other countries. Hundreds of visitors, teachers, administrators and district staff will enjoy the exhibit.

In addition to the Education Center art exhibit, the Instructional Resource Center at 14090 S. Black Bob Road, hosts a range of student works throughout the year. That exhibit area will feature art by high school students from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays through May 1.
