6-15-22 — Record High Funds Raised at OPSF Golf Classic
June 15, 2022 ~ On a bright, beautiful and sunny Thursday, supporters of the Olathe Public Schools foundation gathered at Prairie Highlands Golf Course to celebrate the OPSF 25th Annual Golf Classic. Hundreds of golfers spent a warm day enjoying a round of golf while raising the highest amount of funds in the history of the OPSF classic: over $140,000 for Olathe students and teachers.
The Foundation partnered with Olathe Health and DS Bus Lines to present the tournament. Proceeds will enable the Foundation to support Olathe students and teachers with innovative ideas for classroom grants, reward fantastic teachers and staff members with the Educator Excellence and CEERA awards, and support mental health and wellness programs for some of our most vulnerable students.
Golfers received lots of fabulous prizes during many on-course contests, including the very popular John Deere Winning Ball contest, which rewards teams for completing 18 holes without ever losing their ball. In addition to the exciting competitions, golfers were able to enjoy refreshing drinks and other hospitality provided by several community sponsors throughout the links.
“This fun annual event is a great way to support Olathe teachers and students. Funds raised at this tournament help ensure we continue to meet the needs of Olathe students and teachers,” said Cindy VonFeldt, OPSF executive director. “This event wouldn’t be possible without support from our generous golfers, sponsors and volunteers.”
A big shoutout to our staff from the Olathe Advanced Technical Center (OATC) who were present with their handicap accessible golf cart to assist with transporting golfers and volunteers and keeping them hydrated throughout the day.
Special thanks to Torchy’s Tacos and Capitol Federal Savings Bank for providing dinner, and to our golf cart sponsor Robert Brogden’s Olathe Buick GMC and Robert Brogden’s Olathe Kia for providing transportation for everyone around the course. Corporate sponsors DLR Group, Garmin, Heritage Tractor, Piper Sandler & Co., SafeDefend, and Synetic Technologies graciously helped cover the tournament expenses so that more proceeds could go directly into classroom grants and special programs for Olathe students.
