June 13, 2018 ~ Members of the Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association are proud to host a special open house for the public at the former John P. St. John Memorial High School at Park and Water streets on Saturday evening, July 21.
The Bird Cage Bash will feature entertainment, refreshments (snacks and non-alcoholic beverages) and tours of the historic building. Admission is a $10 donation to benefit the association's scholarship for all five high schools.
The former high school is now Mill Creek Campus, home to the Olathe Public Schools' community-oriented services and several alternative education programs. The main entrance is at 300 E. Loula Street.
Building tours and a silent auction of unique items will be available from 6-7 p.m.
Alums from the original Olathe High School who formed the Chapter 2 band will perform from 7-9 p.m. in the beautifully renovated auditorium which now serves double-duty as meeting space. The band's specialty is hits from the 1950s to '70s.
The Bird Cage Bash is an opportunity for alums of all ages and the public to reconnect, enjoy the history of this newly renovated building, and help build a scholarship fund for graduates from all five of Olathe's current high schools.
