4-30-18 — Board to Recognize Many Students Including Three Perfect ACT Scores

April 30, 2018 ~ The Olathe Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3 in the Education Center, 14160 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe. Two presentations are on the agenda: an observance of National Teacher Day and results of the latest district staff and parent surveys.

Fourth-grade teacher Anna Scholz will give a brief presentation of National Teacher Day, which is observed on May 8.

Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Jessica Dain will update the board members on results of the 2017-18 district staff and parent surveys. Feedback from the surveys is used to help district leaders make important decisions.

The board meeting will begin with recognitions including a community partner, a retiring school resource officer, various staff honors, three perfect ACT scores, National Merit Scholarship finalists, and other student honors.

Board members will address several action items including the consent agenda, bids/ contracts/ agreements, and student trips. A number of future action items will be shared with the board, as will the Head Start director’s monthly report.

The board plans to take an executive session to discuss personnel issues.
