Feb. 1, 2018 ~ Preparing for the ACT exam takes time, and sometimes a student's schedule doesn't mesh with existing courses offered in high school classrooms. The Olathe Public Schools is partnering with PREPWORKS online test preparation to provide an alternative way for students to prepare for the big exam.
Students may enroll for the PREPWORKS program by visiting the district's eAcademy website, http://eacademy.olatheschools.com. The cost for a 12-month subscription to the service is $45. Upon completing the online registration, interested students should mail a check payable to USD 233 to the eAcademy offices in the Instructional Resource Center, 14090 Black Bob Road, Olathe KS 66062. Checks and online registration must be completed by the 25th of the month in which a series begins (May, June, August, October, November and February).
Students who dedicate an hour per week to the program should be able to complete the program in a semester, but they have up to one year to complete the 36 modules after their diagnostic test. Students will experience two comprehensive tests which are timed and simulate taking the real ACT online.
The district will continue to offer in-person sessions, but PREPWORKS provides an online work-at-home opportunity. Students can take advantage of multiple modes of preparation and choose the programs that best suit their individual needs.
Students planning to take the first round of ACT tests this fall may want to take advantage of summer to start preparing and should by the last day of school.
