1-16-18 — Santa Fe Trail to Mark Half Century of Education
Jan. 16, 2018 ~ Students and staff of Santa Fe Trail Middle School are excited about marking the 50th anniversary of their school with a public open house on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The school, located at 1100 N. Ridgeview Road in Olathe, proudly announced the celebration with fliers stating “Some schools have a story. We have a legacy.”
A program will begin at 6 p.m. in the north gymnasium, and tours of the school will start at 7:30 p.m. Various photos and other memorabilia from Santa Fe Trail’s 50 years will be on display in the south gym throughout the evening.
“We are looking forward to celebrating with many former and current staff members and students who have been a part of the Santa Fe Trail family during the past 50 years,” said anniversary committee member and math teacher Deven DeRodes-Voss. “The program will include building history and memories shared by current and former principals, as well as musical performances by our Cyclone Jazz Band, Bel Coro and Chamber Orchestra.”
Those who attended or worked in the school years ago will enjoy taking a guided tour to learn some of the building’s history and see how the current space is utilized for 21st century learning.
Refreshments will be served and a fun photo opportunity is planned.
“We will encourage our guests to visit with each other and renew friendships that were formed during their years at Santa Fe Trail,” DeRodes-Voss said.
