1-4-18 — Helping Students with Disabilities Navigate Puberty

Jan. 4, 2018 ~ The Olathe Public Schools Special Services Site Council will host a free seminar for parents of students with special education needs. "Supporting Students with Intellectual Disabilities to Successfully Navigate Puberty" is the topic of the Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018 meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Instructional Resource Center, 14090 S. Black Bob Road, Olathe.

Amy Allison, executive director of the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City, will be the guest speaker. She will address the changes children go through as they mature, including puberty. For elementary through high school students with intellectual and development disabilities, there is a great deal for parents to know and consider about puberty.

The next session will be Feb. 22. The topic is “Guardianship Essentials: What Parents Need to Know.”
