Chief Academic Officer Announces Retirement
Olathe Public Schools Chief Academic Officer Dr. Tim Reves announced that he will retire at the end of the current school year, concluding a distinguished career spanning nearly 35 years in education, including more than two decades serving the Olathe community.
Dr. Reves has made a lasting impact on the district through a variety of leadership roles. He began his career in Olathe as a building leader, serving as principal at Heritage Elementary and Cedar Creek Elementary before advancing to Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and, most recently, Chief Academic Officer. Throughout his tenure, he has played a key role in shaping the district’s academic direction and strengthening outcomes for students.
In his current role, Dr. Reves has led significant instructional initiatives, including the implementation of high-quality instructional resources and the integration of TNTP (The New Teacher Project) practices across the district. His leadership has emphasized a strong focus on student learning while supporting the growth and development of educators and administrators alike.
“Dr. Reves’ impact on Olathe Public Schools cannot be overstated,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Yeager. “He has dedicated his career to ensuring every student has access to high-quality learning experiences while also investing deeply in the people he serves alongside. Tim leads with humility, authenticity, and a genuine care for others, and his influence will be felt in our system for years to come.”
Dr. Reves will continue his work in education following his retirement, returning to a building leadership role as an elementary principal in the Platte County School District in Missouri.
At this time, the district does not plan to replace the Chief Academic Officer position in its current form. District leadership will work to thoughtfully redistribute responsibilities, with additional details to be shared in the coming months. The district extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Reves for his extraordinary service and lasting contributions to Olathe Public Schools and wishes him continued success in his next chapter.
