Our Cross Country Team

  • Since Olathe East opened in 1992, the Running Hawks have established a tradition of excellence! The girls team won their fourth 6A Kansas State Championship in 2012, in addition to state titles in 2006, 2009 and 2010! In addition the Lady Hawks won their fifth straight regional title, and placed first at the Olathe East, Bishop Miege, Topeka Seaman and Haskell University meets. The boys team won the 2012 regional title also (their second overall), placing ninth in the 6A state meet. The team also won titles at the Bishop Miege, Topeka Seaman and Haskell University meets. Olathe East teams have won over 100 invitational team titles since the school opened in 1992, and have qualified teams to the state meet in 15 out of the last 17 years (including every year since 2003). In addition, our freshman, C-team and junior varsity teams are amongst the best in the state!

With a team size of over 90 athletes, the Hawks have one of the largest and most successful teams in Kansas. The team has great support from the Olathe East Cross Country Parents Booster Club. The OEHS cross country team has been recognized by the KSHSAA for academic excellence! The men’s and women’s teams train and travel together. Most meets are held on Saturdays. We are very proud to have an extremely active and supportive parents booster group! Spaghetti feeds are held the evenings before each meet. Let’s RUN!
