Alternative Education Options

  • Sometimes students need a little extra help getting through the school system. Several innovative alternative education programs are designed to help students who are at risk of leaving school before graduation.

    The programs include:

    • SOAR — An alternative program for grades 10 through 12. Admission is based on a recommendation of the home high school counselor and an interview with program staff.
    • Hope — An alternative program for suspended or expelled students. Admission is based on the recommendation from the Due Process Hearing Committee.
    • The Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center — A residential detention center serving all Johnson County youth who are incarcerated. Placement is made by law enforcement or the local juvenile authority.
