Additional Information
Printing Your Kansas Teaching License
The information below provides links and guidance for renewing your teaching license with the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE). While Human Resources can assist, specific questions are best directed to KSDE licensure officers.
KSDE stopped printing licenses on July 1, 2013. Licensed educators now access, save, and print their license online. When your new or renewed license is available, you must provide a digital copy to Human Resources. Instructions are below.
If your Application Status shows “PRINTED” or “NOT ACTIVE,” your license is ready to print. The “Status Date” shows when your application last changed.
District regulations require Human Resources to keep your current license on file. Once your new license or added endorsement is approved:
-
Visit the License Look-up
-
Search your first and last name
-
Click “Print License” below your name
-
Review your license details, including ID number, expiration date, and endorsements
-
Save or print a copy for your records
-
Once you have opened a copy of your license, you may print one for yourself or select “File” from the menu at the top of the screen and “Save as” to a file location of your choice. This step is solely for your own files and records
To provide Human Resources a copy, go to “File” and select “Attach to Email.” An email will come up with the attachment already in the attachment pane. Enter your employee ID in the subject line. Send the email to Human Resources, and they will take care of filing your license.

Details of the New Seal of Literacy Requirement
Beginning July 1, 2028, Kansas veteran educators serving in specific positions will be required to demonstrate knowledge of the Science of Reading to renew their professional license. This knowledge may be demonstrated by completing state-approved training or passing a state-approved literacy exam.
The Olathe Public Schools is in the planning phases to help support educators who need to obtain the seal of literacy. Watch for more information about LETRS training and Praxis preparation training in the coming months.
