Who We Are

Located at Olathe North High School, academically high-achieving students in this program immerse themselves in rigorous, non-traditional coursework that goes beyond the traditional classroom experience. Beginning with a freshman cohort, students explore academic disciplines and develop cultural awareness before specializing in one of five content areas: Language Arts, Math, Political Science, Science, or Visual Arts. They think and work outside the traditional academic “box,” examining global issues through multiple curricular viewpoints while learning directly from experts in their fields of study. Students participate in unique field research, receive specialized preparation for the PSAT/NMSQT, and compete in local, regional, and national academic competitions. With access to advanced technology and resources tailored to their areas of study, they dive into topics that exceed even the most rigorous high school courses. Many go on to pursue post-graduate degrees, entering higher education well-prepared for the challenges of undergraduate and graduate work across a wide range of academic disciplines. Distinguished Scholars Political Science students enjoy discussion and debate, are strong communicators and are leaders in the school community.
