Who We Are
We apply the values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, and Ethics in everything to the pursuit of computer science knowledge and skills, in preparation for higher education and career paths in computing. The Computer Science Academy empowers high school students to become creators, not just consumers, of technology. Students work together to engage in compelling, real-world problem-solving opportunities designed to develop computational thinking skills instead of just learning “how to code.” Students become better thinkers and communicators, with knowledge and skills they will use in their future.
What We Do
Located at Olathe South High School, students in this program will develop computational thinking skills through activity, project, and problem-based learning while collaborating to integrate technologies across multiple platforms, mobile devices, and networks. They will gain experience working in team environments to strengthen interpersonal, presentation, and programming skills, all while applying effective practices in problem solving, documentation, and software development to create software solutions for real-world challenges.

Endorsement Requirements and Sample Plan of Study
The endorsement requirements provided in the documents below gives the requirements for achieving an endorsement at one of three levels: Endorse, Endorse with Honors, or Endorse with High Honors
Students will set goals with their academy facilitator and their IPS will reflect their plan. Students can design their IPS and endorsement goals based on their individual needs. Students can move from one level to another as they need to. The student's plan is re-visted each year to make sure the student is on track and their plan still reflects their interest.
The Four-Year Individual Plan of Study (IPS) provided in the document list below is a SAMPLE. Each student's IPS is individualized to the student's needs and interests. The academy facilitator will work with the student along with their school counselor.
