Who We Are

Located at Olathe East High School, students will explore a variety of design fields, including architecture, industrial design, interior design, landscape design, graphic design, and engineering, all through the design thinking process. They gain a strong foundation in design skills and methods, learn industry standards, and use professional equipment and CAD programs. Students also collaborate with industry partners on projects, participate in national competitions and partnerships, and design real-world solutions!

What We Do

In this program, students learn the foundational principles needed to design anything and work on projects from concept to completion in areas such as architecture, products, interiors, displays, and more. They also gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and technology, preparing them for real-world design opportunities.

A Look Inside Design

Endorsement Requirements and Sample Plan of Study

The endorsement requirements provided in the documents below gives the requirements for achieving an endorsement at one of three levels: Endorse, Endorse with Honors, or Endorse with High Honors

Students will set goals with their academy facilitator and their IPS will reflect their plan. Students can design their IPS and endorsement goals based on their individual needs. Students can move from one level to another as they need to. The student's plan is re-visted each year to make sure the student is on track and their plan still reflects their interest.

The Four-Year Individual Plan of Study (IPS) provided in the document list below is a SAMPLE. Each student's IPS is individualized to the student's needs and interests. The academy facilitator will work with the student along with their school counselor.
