Continuing Education FAQs

How do I submit Continuing Education Units (CEUs)?
Please note that Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are different than continuing education credits. Not all educators may earn CEUs for relicensure and salary movement. Educators who are licensed through the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) may not earn CEUs for relicensure or salary movement.
If you are not licensed through KSDE and require CEUs as part of your license renewal, then some of the CEUs you earn may be eligible for salary movement. Use the CERT: CEUs form in Frontline Professional Growth for submission. Once submitted in Frontline, submit official CEU transcripts to etranscripts@olatheschools.org.

Can I earn points for attending a webinar?
If the webinar is part of a district or building professional learning activity, points for relicensure will be recorded in Frontline Professional Growth. If the district or building activity occurs outside of contract time and you are not receiving a stipend for your participation, then the points will also be recorded for salary movement purpose.
If the webinar is not part of a district or building professional learning activity, then you will need to have an Action Plan with a goal to which the activity aligns submitted in Frontline Professional Growth prior to your participation. If an Action Plan has been submitted, then points for attending the webinar may be entered as part of the Action Plan process using the CERT: Knowledge Points request form. If the webinar occurs outside of the educator’s contract time, then the request may be for both relicensure and salary movement.

Can I earn points for attending PD outside the district?
If an educator is requesting the District to support their attendance in the professional learning activity through paying registration, travel, providing a substitute, or providing professional leave, then points are for relicensure only and awarded through the CERT: Out-of-District Professional Activity request form in Frontline Professional Growth.
If an educator is not requesting any support from the District to attend (including professional leave) the educator must follow the Action Plan process to request points. The Action Plan with an aligned goal must be submitted in Frontline PRIOR to the activity. Points would be requested through the CERT: Knowledge Points request form.
