The Action Plan process allows educators to conduct individual action research to improve professional practice and impact student achievement. With an approved Action Plan, educators may engage in professional learning activities which may include professional reading, research, attending webinars, conferences, and collaborative discussions with colleagues. Educators may then follow procedures to request Knowledge, Application, and Impact level points for their work in the process. View our Action Plan process. 

Each of the five high school feeder patterns have an Action Plan Coach to support educators working through the Action Plan process. Action Plan Coaches are full time educators who have received additional training on the Action Plan process as well as Olathe policies on professional development and salary schedule conditions.

Each of the Action Plan Coaches will host quarterly information and support sessions for any district staff interested in or currently working through an Action Plan. Educators may sign up to attend these sessions through the Frontline Professional Growth Catalog. The coaches will also provide support to individuals.

Action Plans may be submitted at any time. If submitted between Aug. 1 and Oct. 15, the start date may be retroactive to Aug. 1 of the current professional learning year (Aug. 1 through July 31). For Action Plans submitted after Oct. 15, the submission date will be the start date of the plan. All activities to earn professional development points as part of an Action Plan must occur after the start date. Action Plans may be active for up to three professional learning years.
